Want to Live a Longer, Healthier and More Fulfilling Life?
Being overweight is not something to be ashamed of. Living with the disease of obesity can greatly affect your quality of life. It is a chronic condition that may warrant medical or surgical help.
Bariatric surgery should not be a last resort.
Our objective within Capital Medical Center’s Bariatric & Obesity Surgical Services is to offer weight loss surgery as one of the tools in your journey toward achieving and maintaining a healthy weight and lifestyle.
Our surgical program has achieved national recognition as Low Acuity Center and a Center of Excellence under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®).
The program is led by Monica Young, M.D., a board-certified gastrointestinal and bariatric surgeon within the Bariatric & Obesity Surgical Services clinic. Dr. Young completed her general surgery residency at the University of California Irvine and her fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the University of Washington.
She developed a passion for bariatric surgery after seeing the amazing impact it can have on people’s medical conditions, general health and overall quality of life. Dr. Young is a firm believer in the importance of a team approach to weight loss. She is proud to have gathered a great team comprised of a registered nurse bariatric coordinator, registered dietitian and medical assistant – all dedicated to helping patients navigate the process of undergoing bariatric surgery.
